Trump has once again suggested that Canada should become the 51st state of the USA
US President Donald Trump stated that Canada ought to become the 51st state, promising Canadians "significantly lower taxes and better military protection." The American leader made this remark on a social media platform.
Trump mentioned that the US pays "hundreds of billions of dollars to subsidize Canada," but pointed out that there is no reason for this.
"We pay hundreds of billions of dollars to subsidize Canada. Why? There is no reason. We don’t need anything they have. We have unlimited energy, we make our own cars, we have more timber than we will ever be able to use," - wrote the US president.
He noted that "without this massive subsidy, Canada would cease to exist as a viable country."
"It’s harsh, but it’s true! That’s why Canada should become our cherished 51st state. Significantly lower taxes and better military protection for the people of Canada - and no tariffs!" – assured the American leader.
As reported earlier, Trump was embroiled in controversy even before his inauguration. He suggested that Canada become the 51st state and published an AI-generated image of mountains with him standing next to the Canadian flag. Additionally, he referred to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as "the governor of the Great State of Canada."
Recently, the US president signed orders imposing tariffs on goods from Canada, Mexico, and China. He exercised emergency economic powers in an attempt to compel them to combat illegal immigration and the drugs entering the States.
Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau declared "hard times" for Canada due to the US tariffs. According to him, the country has reached a "critical moment." He also promised a "substantive, strong, but reasonable immediate response."
