The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an order for the country to withdraw from the UN Human Rights Council.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Reuters.

According to the publication, Trump signed a document to cease U.S. participation in the UN Human Rights Council and to continue the suspension of funding for the UN agency for Palestinian assistance, UNRWA.

Additionally, during a conversation with journalists, Trump stated that he is willing to meet with his Iranian counterpart in an attempt to persuade Iran to abandon what the U.S. believes are Tehran's efforts to develop nuclear weapons.

The U.S. Suspended Funding for Foreign Aid Grants

The U.S. remains the largest donor of financial aid in the world, providing $72 billion in 2023. However, on January 21, President Donald Trump announced a 90-day suspension of all foreign aid programs for review to ensure alignment with his foreign policy.

On January 24, the State Department issued an order to halt all foreign aid and suspend new disbursements, causing confusion among lawmakers and humanitarian organizations.

Additionally, programs for the demining of munitions have been frozen, and the USAID branch in Ukraine has temporarily halted funding for projects. This decision is more stringent than Trump's policies from 2017-2021, but Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been granted the authority to make exceptions and has already approved emergency food assistance.
