On January 18, a tourist skiing at the Dragobrat resort in Transcarpathia tragically died after losing her grip on the T-bar lift, falling and sustaining injuries that were incompatible with life. This was reported by the NTA publication.
Journalists state that the woman lost her balance on the lift and suffered fatal injuries from colliding with sharp elements of the protective fence. Witnesses of the incident reported that the deceased girl improperly used the T-bar.
"I was standing in line for the lift and saw her going up. They handed her a pole, but she pushed against it with her hands instead of hooking it around her legs, then she crouched down and went up like that. After I got on the T-bar, I saw her flying down the mountain. We somehow managed to avoid her. Then she crashed into the fence or a support at the landing area. I saw all of this because I was about 20 meters from the landing spot," said one of the witnesses of the tragedy, adding that the deceased tourist lay there for 3-4 hours after the fall.
Subsequently, media identified the victim as 28-year-old Ekaterina Ignatieva, a resident of Kovel in the Volyn region. From information gathered from open sources, it is known that she worked as a dermatologist, cosmetologist, and trichologist.
Her friends and loved ones noted that Ekaterina was an active, cheerful person who dreamed of the future and enjoyed new discoveries. They reported that she came to the resort with friends and actively shared her experiences on social media.
In her Instagram account, just before her tragic death, she posted a video of herself skiing at the resort.
"I discovered skiing. Now I will ski every year," reads a post from the deceased woman's account.
The Transcarpathian police confirmed the tragedy. Currently, law enforcement is not disclosing official details as they continue to investigate all circumstances.
Earlier, it was reported that a child died at a ski resort in the Lviv region. While descending the mountain on skis, the child fell and suffered a severe head injury. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, they could not save the boy's life.
It later became known how a tourist fell onto power lines and left thousands of residents without electricity. The woman was paragliding near the cable car when she got entangled in the wires and had to be rescued by firefighters and police.
