The Renault company has unveiled an unusual electric prototype, the Filante Record 2025, developed with the support of Ligier Automotive and aimed at setting a new record.

This news was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the press service of the company.

The design of the Renault Filante Record 2025 was inspired by three different vehicles. Elements from past racing cars are reflected in the appearance of the new prototype. However, the primary focus during its development was on refined aerodynamics.

That’s why the body of the new "record holder" resembles an aircraft fuselage, while its glazing looks like the canopy of a fighter jet. This single-seater vehicle has an elongated shape, which helps stabilize the airflow better. As a result, with a length of 5.12 meters, the prototype's width is just 1.71 meters, and its height is 1.19 meters.

The 19-inch wheels are covered with shields, and the suspension arms feature an aerodynamic profile. The drag coefficient has not yet been disclosed, as the prototype is still undergoing testing in a wind tunnel, with design work conducted through computer modeling. Michelin tires have been specifically developed for the Filante, and engineers hope to increase the vehicle's range by 20% with their help.

The interior of the prototype is also designed with influences from aviation and even space technology. In front of the driver is a yoke with additional control elements and a flexible screen in the center. The entire structure is mounted on a hinged glass canopy, enhancing the convenience of getting in and out. The driver is positioned similarly to that in Formula 1 cars, with the seat resembling a hammock made of stretched material over a frame. There is no climate control system, but a clever natural ventilation system is provided for the cabin.

Engineers have made significant efforts to lighten the vehicle. The body structure extensively utilizes carbon fiber, allowing the weight of the electric prototype to remain within 1000 kg. In addition to carbon fiber, the chassis design incorporates high-strength steel and Scalmalloy, an aluminum alloy specifically developed for 3D printing. Artificial intelligence was employed during the design process to further optimize weight and strength characteristics.

The traction battery has been developed by a subsidiary of Ampere, built using cell-to-pack technology, and features a carbon fiber casing. As a result, the 87 kWh battery weighs 600 kg. Renault emphasizes that the Filante Record 2025 will not only be a record-setting vehicle but also a "mobile testbed" for advancing electric vehicle technologies. It will be publicly showcased at the Rétromobile exhibition in Paris, which will take place from February 5 to 9.
