The court has ordered the detention of MP Shevchenko.

On January 7, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the detention order for MP Yevheniy Shevchenko, who is suspected of treason.

According to a report from the courtroom, the correspondent of Suspilne stated this.

As per the court's decision, Shevchenko will remain in custody until March 7, 2025, without the possibility of posting bail.

The prosecution noted that during the pre-trial investigation since Shevchenko's detention, it was established that several video recordings posted on YouTube, which were used as evidence in the treason case, had been destroyed.

Prosecutor Yakiv SliSarenko pointed out that if the detention order were to be softened, Shevchenko might evade justice by hiding abroad.

Reminder: According to the investigation, the deputy recorded programs on his own channels and gave interviews to pro-Russian bloggers and experts. Subsequently, this content was disseminated by propaganda media in the territory of the Russian Federation to create a public stance within the aggressor country that it represented the official position of the Ukrainian authorities.

In these programs, the deputy spread information that reinforced the belief among the masses that the Ukrainian government had allegedly driven the country to total collapse, loss of territories and people, and was incapable of achieving peace. He also promoted the idea that Ukraine was no longer capable of victory and should negotiate with Russia on any terms.
