In Mykolaiv, an 18-year-old man was arrested for arson, reportedly acting on commission (photo included).

In Mykolaiv, during investigative activities, including the analysis of recordings from surveillance cameras linked to the "Safe City" system, police identified the perpetrator who set fire to the building of the Shipbuilding District Court.

According to the communication department of the Mykolaiv region police, the suspect is an 18-year-old resident of Mykolaiv who was carrying out an order.

Operatives, with the involvement of regional SBU officers and the tactical support of special forces, apprehended the young man in a rented apartment.

Police established that the 18-year-old Mykolaiv resident, while executing the order, first found the "right" administrative building. He had previously acquired the necessary tools for the crime – a hammer and flammable mixtures, and upon instructions, set the fire. The perpetrator recorded all his actions and subsequently sent a video report to the "customer" regarding the damage to the court and the receipt of monetary compensation.

During a sanctioned search, police investigators seized mobile phones, SIM cards, and bank cards from the suspect, which he used for communication with the customer.

The suspect was detained by investigators in accordance with legal procedures. He has now been informed of the suspicion under part 2 of article 194 "Intentional destruction or damage to property" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

At the scene, the investigative-operational group of police station No. 3 of the Mykolaiv District Police Department determined that the fire had damaged an office within the judicial institution.

From the crime scene, police collected burn fragments and other evidence, which were sent for examination. Law enforcement established that the cause of the fire in the administrative building was intentional arson.
