США собираются продать Израилю оружие на сумму 8 миллиардов долларов, сообщает Axios.

The U.S. State Department has informed Congress about a potential arms and ammunition supply to Israel amounting to $8 billion.

This was reported by the Axios portal citing sources.

"The State Department has unofficially notified Congress about the proposed deal with Israel for the supply of weapons worth $8 billion," the message states.

According to one of the publication's sources, the State Department clarified that the agreement aims to "support Israel's long-term security by replenishing stocks of critical munitions and air defense capabilities."

The potential agreement requires approval from the foreign affairs committees of the House of Representatives and the Senate. The deal includes the supply of AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM air-to-air missiles for fighter jets to defend against aerial threats, including drones, 155mm artillery shells, AGM-114 Hellfire missiles for attack helicopters, small diameter bombs, and other weaponry.

Axios sources noted that this is a long-term agreement. Most of the weapons will be delivered over the course of a year or several years, but some munitions may be drawn from current U.S. stockpiles.
