Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that his country is prepared to engage in negotiations. He hopes that next year will be celebrated as an anniversary of peace, rather than war.
He mentioned this during his online address at the "Support Ukraine" summit.
“I say this with all sincerity. It is our shared responsibility to celebrate next year as an anniversary of peace, not war. Turkey will continue to make every effort to establish a just and lasting peace. Thus, I sincerely hope that 2025 will be the year in which peace is built. In just a few days, we will welcome the holy month of Ramadan. I hope it brings peace, tranquility, and prosperity to all of humanity,” the president emphasized.
The politician noted that Turkey “stands on the side of Ukraine's just cause” at the onset of the war.
“Since the annexation of Crimea in 2014, Turkey has firmly supported Ukraine's just cause. And three years ago, when the large-scale conflict began, we clearly indicated that we are against this war. Today, we will continue to provide assistance in the form of diplomacy and negotiations. We must ensure strong support for Ukraine's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence,” he stressed.
