Madrid will provide Ukraine with a new military aid package amounting to 1 billion euros.
During the "Support Ukraine" forum, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez announced this.
“We will continue to provide military assistance, equipment, and resources with even greater determination. I am ready to announce a new military aid package for Ukraine – 1 billion euros in 2025. We will work side by side with Ukraine on the recovery process. We will create structures to enhance this process. We will encourage our companies to participate in Ukraine's projects and programs,” he stated.
Sanchez noted that Spain and Ukraine will address the needs of the Ukrainian diaspora by establishing a special Ukrainian hub in the province of Alicante.
The Spanish Prime Minister emphasized that only Ukraine can determine its future, and Spain supports it in this regard. According to Sanchez, for a just peace to be achieved, Ukraine must be at the negotiating table. He also pointed out that a just and comprehensive peace cannot be limited to a ceasefire.
“We must ensure that Ukraine joins the European Union as soon as possible. Whatever happens in the coming months – Ukraine's accession to the European Union is the most significant victory for the Ukrainian people,” he added.
