Коммунальные службы выбросили на свалку 6000 евро, найденные на улице, посчитав их сувенирными.

On Thursday, January 16, municipal workers were cleaning up the central part of Shostka in the Sumy region when they discovered a bag containing European currency. The street cleaners assumed it was fake, souvenir money, so they discarded it with the trash, which was then taken to the local landfill, reports the "Shostka.info" website.

It later turned out that the bag contained 6,000 euros, equivalent to nearly 260,000 hryvnias. Noticing the money was missing, the owner began searching for it and contacted the municipal workers. The city’s utility employees informed him that the money was no longer with them. Consequently, the man had to go to the landfill, where he found the bag with 6,000 euros among the rubbish.

As a token of gratitude, the man gifted the municipal workers 1,000 hryvnias each.

At the same time, the website notes that no reports of the missing bag of foreign currency have been filed with the police.

The exact amount of money literally flushed down the drain remains unknown, as the municipal workers only retrieved the bills that clogged the sewage system.

Additionally, an accountant from one of the companies was transporting over 4.7 million euros in cash in the trunk of a car. The vehicle was stopped by detectives from the Bureau of Economic Security in the Kyiv region.
