The Security Service of Ukraine has announced a suspicion against Russian singer and propagandist Yaroslav Dronov, known by the stage name Shaman, who is famous for his song "I Am Russian."

According to a report from the SBU on Telegram, the press service states.

The case materials reveal that he publicly supports and promotes Russia's war against Ukraine.

"The offender is part of a group of Kremlin-controlled performers in Russia who openly endorse the actions of the Russian leadership and glorify individuals involved in combat against Ukraine. To this end, Dronov regularly performs at concerts and mass events aimed at supporting Putin and the occupying forces of the aggressor country," the statement reads.

The SBU notes that in late 2022, the individual recorded a video address in which he glorified representatives of armed formations from Russia fighting against Ukraine and recognized the legitimacy of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine, which began in 2014.

In February 2023, the SBU adds, Dronov was in the temporarily occupied part of the left bank of the Kherson region, where he performed at a commissioned concert in support of the Kremlin regime.

Linguistic expertise confirmed the facts of the singer's information-subversive activities.

Based on the collected evidence, investigators have informed Dronov of the suspicion under Part 3 of Article 436-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (denial of the temporary occupation of part of Ukraine's territory, recognition of the legitimacy of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine that began in 2014, and glorification of representatives of armed formations of Russia, committed repeatedly using mass media).

Comprehensive measures are currently underway to hold Dronov accountable.
