The White House has once again urged Ukraine to lower the age threshold for mobilization to 18 years. National Security Advisor to President Joe Biden, Jake Sullivan, stated the need for further reduction in the mobilization age during an interview with Bloomberg.
"Ultimately, this is a decision that Ukraine will have to make. However, we have been very clear, including in the public domain, that the issue of personnel replenishment is a matter of acute concern and needs to be addressed by Ukraine," Sullivan said.
He reminded that in 2024, Ukraine had already lowered the mobilization age from 27 to 25 years.
According to him, the Biden administration has already informed the team of elected President Donald Trump about this issue.
On January 12, the future national security advisor to Trump, Congressman Mike Waltz, also spoke about the necessity of lowering the mobilization age.
"Listen, if the Ukrainians are asking the whole world to risk everything for democracy, they also need to put everything on the line for democracy," he stated.
