Russia has altered its strategy: Ukrainian forces are engaging in drone races in the sky to intercept "Shahed" drones.

When the enemy began launching strike drones at Ukraine, thousands of mobile groups were formed. However, Russia refused to accept its failures and started employing cunning tactics, creating new challenges.
Россия скорректировала свою стратегию: Вооруженные силы Украины запускают дронов в небо для уничтожения "Шахедов".

Ukrainian air defense forces are intercepting Russian "Shaheds" with the help of drones. This was stated by the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' drone systems, Vadim Sukharievsky, in an interview with LIGA.net on February 26.

"Any war is like a chess game. What was a priority yesterday may become hopelessly outdated today," he emphasized.

According to him, when the "Shaheds" were launched from Russia, Ukraine quickly established thousands of mobile fire groups. They demonstrated high effectiveness, but this did not go unnoticed by the enemy.

"The Russians saw that their efforts were fruitless. They began to change tactics, improve, and alter altitudes," Sukharievsky explained.

The commander reported that this is how the defenders of the sky transitioned to a new method of combating Russian UAVs. Now, "Shaheds" are being shot down using FPV drones.

"And this is already yielding real results. What follows is a continuous technological race," he assured.

Sukharievsky noted that each operation of the drone systems involves taking into account various intelligence data. This includes information about electronic warfare systems, Russian air defense, objective security, and passive protection. Specifically, this pertains to the reinforcement of airfield structures, burying aircraft or fuel tanks.

"Therefore, planning is everything for us. We can't do without it," the commander added.

Recall that at the beginning of February, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' drone systems, Vadim Sukharievsky, informed that mobile groups would soon be intercepting "Shaheds" with the help of laser weapons.

It should be noted that on the night of February 26, Russian forces attacked the Kyiv region with "Shaheds," resulting in the deaths of a couple. According to media reports, a drone crashed into the bedroom of a residential building where a well-known surgeon and a journalist lived. Eyewitnesses reported that the UAV exploded inside the room, and a local resident heard female screams.
