Russian military personnel arrived in the temporarily occupied Mariupol and traveled to the city of Berdiansk in the Zaporizhzhia region, where they visited a local eatery. The "social event" for the two Russians ended with food poisoning and hospitalization, where the soldiers are currently in serious condition. This was reported on January 17 in a Telegram channel of the Mariupol City Council.
It is known that the Russian soldiers came to Berdiansk for the weekend. Here, the Russian army soldiers decided to have some fun and visited one of the local bars. The specific establishment where the Russians relaxed has not been disclosed for security reasons.
At the same time, it remains unclear whether the military accidentally became victims of ordered food and alcohol at the eatery, or if someone among the staff or visitors decided to add "ingredients" to the dishes or drinks. However, it is confirmed that the Russian soldiers are in the hospital due to food poisoning.
"Whether this is a coincidence, or someone among the guests 'helped' the occupiers, or something inappropriate was added to the alcohol — remains a mystery," the Mariupol City Council's message states.
Other details regarding the (accidental) poisoning of the Russian military in Berdiansk remain unknown. However, it can be asserted that Russians should be more cautious when visiting establishments in occupied Ukrainian cities.
We remind you that Russian troops entered Berdiansk on February 27, 2022. Since then, the city has been under occupation, but there may be many who want to take revenge on the Russians, as the residents of Berdiansk attempted to drive out the occupying forces through protests at the beginning of the full-scale invasion. Open sources also indicate that city council employees and local services refused to cooperate with the occupiers, which is why Russian appointees have been in control of Berdiansk since then.
It is worth noting that the residents of Berdiansk have repeatedly expressed their protests against the Russian occupiers. For instance, on October 2, 2024, unknown partisans eliminated local traitor judge Vitalii Lomeiko. He was accused of involvement in repressions against Ukrainians and war crimes. The collaborator was blown up in his own car near his home.
A similar incident occurred on December 24, 2024. It became known that the car of the chairman of the occupation council Vasyl Necheta was blown up in the city. It is known that after the city was captured, he voluntarily sided with the Russians and began actively collaborating with them, trying to persuade other residents of Berdiansk to collaborate as well.
