Simultaneously with the press conference of Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron in Washington, Russian television aired an interview with Putin, in which the Russian dictator mentioned the possibility of launching joint Russian-American projects for mineral extraction.
Earlier that day, Donald Trump posted on his social media about Washington discussing significant economic agreements with Moscow that would be established between the USA and Russia.
“The negotiations are going very well!” – the American leader added, without going into details.
Trump also announced that an agreement with Ukraine regarding rare earth metals would be signed soon.
Putin stated that Russia has significantly more rare earth metals than Ukraine, particularly in the occupied Ukrainian territories.
“We could consider working together with American companies in this area,” Putin said.
He added that Russia and the USA could initiate joint projects for aluminum extraction, for example, in the Krasnoyarsk region.
On Monday evening, as reported by Russian media, Putin held a meeting regarding rare earth metals.
Background. Recall that Trump stated that “this week or next week” Zelensky will travel to the USA to sign an agreement on mineral resources.
“We will get our money back, but it also provides something that is very beneficial for their economy, for them as a country,” Trump commented.
