Путин подписал с Ираном соглашение о «всеобъемлющем стратегическом партнерстве».

Iran and Russia have signed a "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement," which specifically pertains to the defense sector.

According to reports from the Russian news agency TASS.

The document was signed by the presidents of both countries, Masoud Pezeshkian and Vladimir Putin, following negotiations in the Kremlin. The agreement formalizes the status of the countries as "strategic partners" and establishes "legal frameworks for the further development of cooperation in the long term," as stated in the article.

According to Iranian and Russian officials, the agreement covers all areas, including military, energy, finance, science, and more.

Previously, Moscow and Tehran operated under an agreement titled "On the Foundations of Relations and Principles of Cooperation" from 2001.

As noted by Reuters, during a meeting with Putin, the President of Iran stated that their countries would be able to reach an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant in Iran. However, it is not specified whether this refers to the completion of the already partially operational nuclear power plant in Bushehr or a new facility.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that Russia and Iran planned to formalize their relations by signing a new strategic partnership agreement just days before the inauguration of newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump.
