The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) and the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) have announced suspicions against a former high-ranking official of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. He has been implicated in the misappropriation of millions of funds and receiving unlawful benefits.

This was reported by SAP.

Law enforcement authorities have determined that in 2020, one of the leaders of the Ministry of Internal Affairs ensured that a specific company was designated as the winner of a procurement for video surveillance and access control equipment, which was installed in the buildings of the Ministry.

Despite the fact that the cost of this equipment was significantly inflated, the state institution transferred funds for the equipment. The agency's losses are estimated at 16 million UAH.

In order to win this tender, the entrepreneur, through a non-profit organization he headed, provided the aforementioned high-ranking official with four premium-class cars worth over 6 million UAH for free use from 2018 to 2019.

After the official's dismissal from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, these vehicles were effectively transferred to his ownership through a donation agreement. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

Background. Earlier, Mind reported that NABU and SAP announced suspicions against a member of parliament for supplying "Ukrzaliznytsia" with products at inflated prices. The carrier incurred losses of over 140 million UAH.
