Citizens traveling on the Odessa-Kyiv highway on January 17 witnessed a high-speed chase at 170 km/h. The chase involved a Patrol Police vehicle and a civilian car. Ultimately, the fugitive was caught. Nearby, individuals in military uniforms, likely employees of the Territorial Center for Staffing (TCK), were observed. The press service of the Patrol Police of the Odessa region reported what happened on the road.
The police responded to a video that appeared at 1 PM on January 17 in the Telegram channel "Х* Odessa." The author of the post indicated that the events were unfolding on the Odessa-Kyiv highway at a speed of 170 km/h. The footage was recorded by an unknown citizen commenting on the events he witnessed.
The first video shows the road along which the vehicle is speeding. At one point, a Patrol Police car appears alongside, racing ahead. A voiceover explains what is happening: law enforcement is pursuing the vehicle. During the chase, dangerous situations arise that could lead to traffic accidents, the witness clarified. Meanwhile, the police vehicle is weaving between cars. Finally, the car was forced to the roadside and stopped.
The subsequent footage shows how officers pull a citizen from the blocked vehicle. This is being done by police officers, as well as at least three individuals in military uniforms. The witness exclaims that the detained man is likely being kicked, but this is not visible in the recording. However, it is audible that the person is groaning.
"Why are you hitting him? Why is it necessary to hit him?" — the witness questions, expressing outrage, among other things, at the police's dangerous actions during the chase.
Around 4 PM on January 17, the Patrol Police of the Odessa region responded to the events on the road. The press service of the department reported that the scandal involving the TCK was due to the driver of a Volkswagen vehicle. The citizen's documents were checked, revealing that he was wanted by the territorial center for staffing. The grounds for the search were violations of military registration rules and a protocol under Article 210 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses (fines ranging from 17,000 to 25,500 UAH). The citizen was asked to wait for TCK staff to arrive to clarify the circumstances. However, he did not comply and fled along the M-05 Odessa-Kyiv highway, according to the report. Ultimately, he was stopped near the village of Nerubayskoye.
After the incident, a protocol was drawn up, law enforcement officials stated. The individual was then handed over to the territorial center for staffing. What happened next to the man was not disclosed by the Patrol Police.
As of the publication of this article, there were no comments on the Odessa Regional TCK and SP page regarding the incident on the highway.
We remind you that on January 15, the Regional Council of Attorneys reported on an incident involving a lawyer and military recruitment officers that occurred in the Kyiv region.
