The Security Service of Ukraine apprehended a 26-year-old man in the city of Izmail, Odessa region. The young man was dressed in women's clothing and had grown long hair specifically for the purpose of disguise. In this "guise," the resident of Odessa region monitored the locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, photographed them, and transmitted the coordinates to the Russians. This was reported by the SSU on January 17.
According to the SSU, the Russians managed to recruit the man through a Telegram channel. There, the unemployed collaborator was looking for quick ways to make money. The suspect agreed to the offer from the Russian agents and chose a female disguise to discreetly track the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and record the necessary coordinates. For this, he received payments from the enemy "employers."
From the SSU summary, it is also known that the Russians demanded the man to provide data on the locations of the Armed Forces, SSU, and border guards in the Izmail area. It is likely that the Russians were gathering information to plan missile and drone strikes on the port city.
Evidence of collaboration was found on the mobile phone of the detained individual. During searches, the SSU discovered correspondence between the young man and Russian agents.
Fortunately, the Security Service was able to apprehend the collaborator in a timely manner, thus preventing a new series of missile strikes on the Odessa region. They documented his crimes and detained him at his actual place of residence.
"SSU investigators informed the suspect of the charges under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law)," the investigators reported.
The punitive sanctions of this article of the Criminal Code of Ukraine under martial law provide for imprisonment for 15 years or life imprisonment with confiscation of property. The perpetrator is currently in custody, and his fate will be determined by the court.
It is worth noting that on January 17, GDB employees detained a defector in Kherson, who had worked for the enemy administration during the occupation of the city and later tried to join the Armed Forces. The man is being held in custody, facing 12 to 15 years of imprisonment.
Earlier, on September 30, 2024, a collaborator was detained in Kherson, who secured a job at the TCC and was distributing summons to Ukrainian conscripts. The man was a former employee of the "Daryivska Prison" and held a similar position under the occupation authority. The detained individual disguised himself under a supposedly pro-Ukrainian stance.
