The heating season began in Kyiv a week ago. Starting from October 14, hospitals, schools, kindergartens, and social institutions in the capital have been connected to heating. However, residential buildings still have cold radiators. The KCSA explained in a comment to TSN why this is the case.
Typically, heating is supplied to residential buildings as soon as the average daily temperature drops below +8°C for three consecutive days and shows a trend of decreasing. In Kyiv, such temperatures were observed from October 17 to 20.
However, meteorologists predict that the air temperature will exceed +9 degrees in the coming days. Consequently, utility services may not rush to connect heating, as this is a real opportunity to save resources.
The KCSA stated that since October 14, more than a thousand social buildings in Kyiv have already been connected to heating.
"Of these: 341 schools, 402 kindergartens, 209 medical institutions, 99 administrative buildings and social services, and 1 educational institution. These facilities are connected based on individual requests from their managers," the city hall reported.
The KCSA noted that residential buildings will start to be connected when the average daily temperature drops to +8°C for three days and there is a significant cooling trend.
This means that it is unrealistic to expect heating to be supplied to residential buildings in the near future, as warm weather is expected to last outdoors for several days.
The KCSA confirms this and adds: "We are guided by the weather."
Meteorologist Natalia Didenko confirmed that warmth will soon return to Ukraine. According to her, the weather in Ukraine will be sunny, without rain, but with fog.
"There will also be more warmth next week. The northwestern wind will shift to the southwestern, and this new direction will bring higher temperatures from the south," Didenko stated in her forecast.
In most regions of Ukraine, warming is expected to reach +14 to +18 degrees. By mid-week, the likelihood of nighttime frosts will decrease. The next rains are anticipated starting October 28.
