The Office of the Prosecutor General announced suspicions against a member of the IX convocation of parliament regarding the organization of illegal transportation of individuals across the state border and document forgery. This was reported by the press service of the agency on Saturday, January 18.
According to the investigation, the deputy, who is a member of the parliamentary committee on transport and infrastructure, contacted the State Border Guard Service in 2022-2023 requesting permission for the departure of 23 individuals under the guise of "drivers," who were allegedly supposed to accompany him abroad.
The State Bureau of Investigations (SBI) stated that at times the deputy needed up to 5 drivers for his foreign trips. Three of these "drivers" did not return to Ukraine at all.
According to "Ukrainska Pravda", the individual in question is Konstantin Bondarev, a member of parliament from "Batkivshchyna."
Currently, within the framework of the pre-trial investigation conducted by the SBI, searches are being carried out at the deputy's apartment and at the residences of other individuals who may be involved in this scheme.
The deputy has also been presented with a motion for the imposition of a preventive measure in the form of detention. A submission for consideration has already been prepared for the investigative judge.
The deputy has been informed of the suspicion regarding the organization of illegal transportation of individuals across the state border using his official position and for committing service forgery (Part 2 of Article 332, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The sanctions for these articles provide for a prison sentence of up to 7 years.
