Queue for the frontlines: addressing the challenges of mobilization and demobilization.

The issue of unlimited service durations in the Armed Forces of Ukraine could be addressed by a mechanism proposed by military personnel and politician Igor Lutsenko. This concept can be loosely referred to as "frontline queue" — where a qualified replacement temporarily takes over for a demobilized soldier, who then moves to the end of the queue.
Очередь на фронте: как справиться с вопросами мобилизации и демобилизации.

How to address the issue of indefinite service terms for those currently in the Armed Forces?

Here’s an idea, for brainstorming purposes.

"Queue for Service"

This comes with a queue for demobilization. Essentially, it’s the same queue, just going in a circle. If you are demobilized, you go to the end of the mobilization queue.

Both queues are electronic.

You sign up for demobilization voluntarily. If you wish to continue serving, that’s not a problem.

Let's say there’s a specific ratio at play. If the state mobilizes 2 individuals who, based on certain criteria, are theoretically meant to replace you, then 1 serviceman receives a ticket to exit (and goes to the end of the mobilization queue, I repeat). But not immediately; only when these individuals become the appropriate replacements.

What criteria determine that they have become suitable replacements? These need to be carefully considered. Of course, newcomers must serve a minimum of six months before being deemed capable of replacing their predecessor. Or perhaps not just six months, but also taking into account the risks. Because on the front lines, it’s one thing; in the rear, it’s another.

What other criteria could there be? Certainly, the field of expertise. Medics for medics, sapper for sapper, and so on.

Of course, many questions remain unanswered…
