Approximately 11,000 North Korean infantrymen are undergoing training in eastern Russia to participate in combat operations in Ukraine. This was reported by the head of Ukraine's Main Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR), as written by The War Zone.
"They will be ready (to fight in Ukraine — ed.) by November 1," noted Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov.
According to him, North Korean troops will utilize Russian equipment and ammunition. The first contingent of 2,600 soldiers will be dispatched for combat operations in Kursk. The deployment of the remaining forces is still unknown.
"Right now, we do not have the complete picture," Budanov stated.
At that time, Andriy Kovalенко, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, mentioned that several thousand troops from North Korea might be fighting in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The following day, on October 16, North Korean fighters were already spotted among Russian forces in the Kursk region.
