In Lviv, employees of one bank gained illegal access to the accounts of a specific category of clients and withdrew funds directly at the branch during 2023-2024. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

The law enforcement officials noted that the bank employees acted under the direction of their supervisor. Having access to the data of clients who might have remained in temporarily occupied territories, they changed the financial numbers of individuals to controlled ones and facilitated the reissuing of bank cards.

By assigning roles among themselves, the bankers used the self-service terminals or POS terminals located in the bank to misappropriate others' savings. Gaining access to about 50 accounts, they caused damages exceeding 5 million UAH.

As a result of the searches conducted, bank cards, mobile phones, and draft notes containing confidential financial information about the bank's clients, whose accounts were subjected to unauthorized financial operations, were seized from the individuals. The suspects have been charged under part 3, part 5 of article 27; part 3 of article 28, part 1, 3 article 362 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — they face up to 6 years of imprisonment with a prohibition from holding certain positions or engaging in specific activities for up to three years.

Preventive measures have been chosen for the suspects. The pre-trial investigation is currently ongoing.

Let us remind you that on January 21, it became known that officers of the Security Service of Ukraine detained the chief psychiatrist of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who is also the deputy chairman of the Central Medical Commission and decides on the fitness of military personnel for service. During the time of the war, he enriched himself by over 1 million US dollars.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that in Ukraine, fraudsters attempt to deceive citizens who wish to apply for eSupport. The criminals create fake websites and accounts to trick trusting individuals into providing their bank card details.
