НБУ опроверг информацию о блокировке счетов за частое снятие наличных.

The National Bank has refuted false claims regarding the potential blocking of Ukrainians' bank accounts due to frequent cash withdrawals and the use of cash loans.

This was reported by the NBU press service.

“Certain media outlets and Telegram channels are spreading misleading and manipulative information suggesting that Ukrainians could have their bank accounts blocked for withdrawing cash more than three times a month, particularly in large amounts, and for frequently using cash loans. We emphasize that this information is not true,” the National Bank stated.

It is noted that the media refer to the “recommendations of the National Bank of Ukraine regarding the strengthening of financial monitoring in Ukraine,” without specifying any particular documents. However, it is emphasized that there are no requirements for blocking accounts for such transactions in any recommendations, letters, regulatory acts, or other official documents from the NBU.

“Banks, payment, and financial institutions continue to operate and conduct proper verification of their clients strictly within the framework of legislation on financial monitoring, applying a risk-oriented approach,” the NBU concluded.

Background. Previously, Mind reported that the inaccessibility of certain state registers reduces banks' ability to open accounts and issue loans. The regulator is preparing a letter for the banking system with clarifications regarding the procedure for opening accounts under such conditions.
