On January 16, in Kyiv and Vyshgorod, people bid farewell to the fallen volunteer soldier Andriy Lviv.
The news of his death became known through the man's Facebook page.
As Andriy Lviv's father, banker Ihor Lviv, told Mind, his son volunteered for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in April 2022.
“He was constantly deployed to hot spots. We cannot disclose where exactly he died at this moment,” says Ihor Lviv. “He told us he wanted his family to be proud of him. Yesterday, during a moment of silence, Khreshchatyk stood before his son on its knees.”
Before joining the military, the man served as an advisor to the chairman of Oxy Bank. He worked at MegaBank, served on the board of Artem Bank, and previously headed departments at Industrial Bank and the Financial Initiative Bank.
Andriy Lviv was 36 years old. He is survived by a widow and a small child.
Andriy’s father, Ihor Lviv, has been a key figure in Ukraine's banking system, working since the early 1990s at major banks such as Aval (now Raiffeisen), Finance and Credit, where he was deputy chairman and one of the founders of the money transfer system “Avers.”

Hundreds of employees from the financial market, including dozens from the National Bank of Ukraine, are serving and have served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Among them are Dmytro Hrytsuta, who led the TАС Insurance Company and Knyazha Vienna Insurance Group, Andriy Onistrat, former owner of the National Credit Bank, financial lawyer Oleg Davidenko, head of the Aries law firm, former press secretary of Oschadbank and then chairman of the institution Andriy Pyshnyy, Tymko Nahalievskyi, and many others from financial institutions, banks, and insurers who actively support the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Who from the financial market has suffered losses at the front
Since the onset of the war in 2014, several members of Ukrainian bankers' families have died. Among those known to Mind are Serhiy Tsymbal, a prosecutor and husband of Liliya Tsymbal, who worked at the NBU and UkrSibbank. He was killed in October 2014 and became one of the first soldiers awarded the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Gold Star.
Since the full-scale war began in 2022, Renat Tapanov, brother of Roza Tapanova, a supervisory board member of Oschadbank, and Ostap Onistrat, son of banker and former owner of the National Credit Bank, as well as former head of the department at UkrSotsBank Andriy Onistrat, have been killed.
