A young anticyclone will bring cold temperatures and snow: here's what to expect for the weather this weekend and into next week.

In the coming days, a young anticyclone will develop over the Scandinavian Peninsula, promoting the movement of cold air masses into more southern latitudes. Ukraine will be affected by this cold air and northwesterly winds.

This weekend, temperatures in Ukraine will still remain above zero, but a drop is expected in just a few days. This was reported by meteorologist Natalia Didenko on her Facebook page.

"During the weekend, we will still see some 'plus' temperatures, albeit more modest ones, but starting from the beginning of the week, we will experience a drop below zero. A cooling trend is anticipated. On February 1-2, the maximum daytime temperature in Ukraine will range from +1 to +6 degrees, with only the southern regions experiencing higher temperatures on Saturday, reaching +8 to +12 degrees," she wrote.

Nataliya Didenko noted that the cooling trend will affect all parts of Ukraine.

On February 1, rain will primarily occur in the central regions, as well as in the south and east. The west and north will be under dense cloud cover, and wet snow is possible in the Carpathians.

In Kyiv, on February 1-2, cloudy weather will prevail with no significant precipitation. On Saturday, a temperature of +5 degrees is expected in the capital, while Sunday will see +3 degrees.

"Later in the week, like in most regions of Ukraine, Kyiv will also experience cooling down to 'minus' temperatures. According to preliminary forecasts, the daytime temperature will range approximately from -3 to +3 degrees, and at night (closer to the middle of the week) temperatures may drop to -3 to -8 degrees, with possible slight dips below during clearings," warns the meteorologist.

Meanwhile, meteorologist Igor Kibalchich reports that a young anticyclone will form over the Scandinavian Peninsula in the coming days, which will contribute to the spread of cold air masses to more southern latitudes. As a result of this process, Ukraine will be under the influence of cold air and northwestern winds. Consequently, temperatures will gradually decrease by 3 to 6 degrees, with precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow expected in some areas.

Let us remind you that the "Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center" stated that winter as such has not yet arrived, despite the fact that it is already the end of January and thermometers are averaging above zero. However, the weather is set to change soon.
