The Center for Counteracting Disinformation stated that the "peacekeeping" rhetoric is aimed at enhancing Lukashenko's image.
Лукашенко предложил белорусских «миротворцев» для Украины: в ЦПД отреагировали.

The self-proclaimed president of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, stated that Belarusian peacekeepers could allegedly facilitate normal relations between Ukraine and Russia.

This was reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation.

At the same time, Lukashenko emphasized that Minsk does not intend to send peacekeeping forces to the front line and that neither Ukraine nor the West would agree to such a decision.

“By making such statements, Lukashenko is attempting to create the impression that Belarus is standing apart from the war. The active support of the Russian army by Belarus at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine made Minsk an accomplice in Russia's armed aggression against our state. Therefore, any claims about 'Belarusian peacekeepers' sound absurd,” the CCD stressed.

The Center for Countering Disinformation noted that the "peacekeeping" rhetoric is aimed at improving Lukashenko's image in the eyes of the international community. Additionally, his statement resonates with Russian propaganda claims that it is the West and Ukraine, rather than Russia, that seek to prolong the war.

Reminder: French President Emmanuel Macron proposed the deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine last year; however, most EU and NATO countries have not yet endorsed this idea. Germany stated that it is willing to consider this issue only with Russia's consent.

Background. Previously, Mind reported that exit polls showed Lukashenko's support in the elections at 87.6%. Lukashenko is running for president for the seventh time.
