The company commander opened fire in Mykolaiv region: what the court decided
The commander of a motorized rifle company was sentenced to one year of probation for unauthorized abandonment of post and illegal use of firearms. According to the verdict from the Pervomaisk court in Mykolaiv region, the officer left the temporary accommodation with weapons: a Makarov pistol, a Kalashnikov assault rifle, and ammunition for both.
Upon returning home and while under the influence of alcohol, he opened fire in his yard. The accused fully admitted his guilt, and the court took into account that he had no previous legal issues and was raising a minor child.
The court opted for leniency, substituting four years of imprisonment with one year of probation.
