China has warned Russia against using nuclear weapons in Ukraine, according to Blinken.

Китай предупредил Россию о недопустимости использования ядерного оружия против Украины, заявил Блинкен.

Russia considered the possibility of a nuclear strike on Ukraine. China warned Moscow against the use of nuclear weapons.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a comment to the Financial Times.

He noted that the U.S. was "very concerned" as Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was likely contemplating a nuclear option against Ukraine.

"Even if the probability has increased from 5 to 15 percent regarding nuclear weapons, there is nothing more serious," Blinken stated.

According to Blinken, the U.S. has reasons to believe that China communicated with Russia and said, "Don't do this."

The U.S. Secretary of State added that such dynamics could have occurred when the U.S. informed China that Putin planned to deploy nuclear weapons in space.

Blinken also refuted the suggestion that the Biden administration delayed providing weapons to Ukraine, stating that it had to consider several factors, such as the ability to operate and maintain the systems.

Putin's Nuclear Threats

It is worth noting that Russia has repeatedly threatened Ukraine and Western countries with nuclear weapons. Western publications and some politicians believe that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was closest to using nuclear weapons against Ukraine in October 2022.

In November 2024, Putin signed a new nuclear doctrine for Russia. The updated document states that the basis for a nuclear strike could be aggression against Russia, as well as its allies from any non-nuclear state with the support of a nuclear state.

More about the Russian doctrine and how it was received worldwide can be found in the material from RBK-Ukraine.
