Members of Parliament have passed a series of laws regarding mobilization, which are sufficient to create conditions for reinforcing the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. People are indeed fleeing from the staff of territorial recruitment centers—currently, there are 6 million individuals. Additionally, some resort to bribery and pay fines. However, this is not related to any shortcomings on the part of the authorities. Details about the search for mobilization reserves were discussed by 52-year-old MP and member of the National Security Committee, Alexander Fedienko, during an interview with "Radio Liberty."
Fedienko responded to a journalist's statement regarding 6 million Ukrainians who have not updated their military registration data at the territorial recruitment centers and are now being detained in entertainment venues, restaurants, and even at weddings. The MP reminded that all citizens of Ukraine, according to the Constitution, are obligated to defend the country and, among other things, to report to the military enlistment office and provide current information about themselves. Instead, they prefer to pay fines and hide while the Armed Forces are on the front lines defending against the aggression of the Russian Armed Forces.
"What more laws need to be passed to encourage them? These 6 million, as you said, should come in accordance with existing legislation, register, and update their information," — emphasized the politician.
Following this, the MP reacted to the notion that citizens require some sort of special "rhetoric" to fulfill their duty, and that they feel compelled to bribe military enlistment offices or medical commissions, or pay during economic conscription. Regarding bribery, Fedienko stated that such individuals should be punished, and he agreed that economic conscription is unfair.
"When people have money and do not fight, while those who lack funds are fighting, that is unjust. And if a person is a briber, they should be imprisoned. I understand that many information channels, possibly from Russia, need to destabilize the internal situation in the country," — explained the member of the National Security Committee.
It should be noted that Fedienko spoke with "Radio Liberty" following mass raids by recruitment centers that took place from October 11-13 across Ukraine. One incident occurred in Kyiv, where military recruiters attended a concert by the band "Okean Elzy." In videos from the scene, military personnel from the recruitment office are seen checking documents of men, some of whom are detained, with certain individuals shouting and trying to escape.
In Lviv, military recruiters visited the EROS Show Bar nightclub. The nightclub was operating during the curfew and was completely filled with male patrons, among whom the recruitment center conducted notification activities, the press service of the institution confirmed.
We remind you that during a conversation with journalists, MP Fedienko explained why recruitment centers began to conduct mass raids.
