Еврокомиссия опровергла информацию о якобы предложенном Украине соглашении по полезным ископаемым.

The European Commission has denied the information regarding a supposed agreement offered to Ukraine concerning minerals, which is an alternative to a document from the United States. They state that such cooperation has actually been ongoing for several years.

This was announced by European Commission spokesperson Thomas Renier, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

“There is no proposal. Since 2021, the EU has had an official partnership with Ukraine regarding critical raw materials, which is formalized by a memorandum of understanding. Thus, it dates back four years. And, as with all important raw materials and memorandums of understanding we have with our partners, it is, of course, about creating synergy between supply chains on both sides, and, naturally, providing advantages for our partners on the ground. This is what this memorandum of understanding is about,” he stated.

According to the spokesperson, this collaboration aims not only to ensure the security of supply chains for the EU but also to promote the creation of local value and the development of potential in partner countries, creating mutual benefits.

“Now, as you can see, this is really about collaboration with Ukraine, rather than any competition with the USA,” Renier added.

Thus, on the eve of the visit of EU officials to Kyiv, the European Commissioner for Industrial Strategy, Stefan Sejourne, “confirmed our commitment to implementing this memorandum of understanding and accelerating efforts to strengthen our mutually beneficial partnership,” noted the spokesperson.

Background. Previously, Mind reported that the European Union proposed an agreement with Ukraine regarding “critically important materials,” as stated by a high-ranking European official, promising Kyiv a “winning” deal even if U.S. President Donald Trump makes his own agreement regarding access to Ukrainian minerals.
