The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) eliminated three terrorists in the Gaza Strip. One of them may be Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine referencing the IDF on Telegram and The Times of Israel.
"According to the initial report, during IDF operations in the Gaza Strip, three terrorists were neutralized. The IDF and the Israeli Space Agency are verifying the possibility that one of the terrorists was Yahya Sinwar. At this stage, the identities of the terrorists cannot be confirmed," the Israel Defense Forces stated.
The military also clarified that no signs of hostages were found in the building where the terrorists were eliminated.
More detailed information will be disclosed by the IDF later.
Meanwhile, as reported by The Times of Israel citing an unnamed senior Israeli official, "there is a high probability" that the IDF successfully eliminated Sinwar.
It is noteworthy that Yahya Sinwar was born in 1962. At the age of 25, he took part in the killing of Palestinians suspected of collaborating with Israel.
For 12 murders, he spent over 20 years in Israeli prisons— from 1988 until 2011. The militant was released as part of a deal. By 2012, he was elected to the Hamas political bureau, and in 2017, he became the leader of Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
In May of this year, ICC Prosecutor Karim Khan requested an arrest warrant for Sinwar.
By the way, on September 27, Israel conducted an airstrike on the Lebanese capital, Beirut, resulting in the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. He had led the group for decades.
