Law enforcement officials in the Kyiv region are conducting a pre-trial investigation into the torture of a minor in Bila Tserkva. Previously, the case was being investigated under the articles "minor bodily harm" and "extortion." This was reported by the press service of the Kyiv regional police.
"The police of Kyiv region have reclassified the actions of all participants in the crime: the pre-trial investigation continues regarding the facts of torture (part 1 of article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the statement said.
The police learned about the beating of the girl on January 11. On that day, the victim's mother reported to law enforcement that teenagers had assaulted her 12-year-old daughter.
Investigators identified 7 participants in this incident, aged between 12 and 16 years. It is known that the minors gathered in a local park, where they invited the 12-year-old victim. Subsequently, to intimidate the girl, one of the suspects, a 16-year-old boy, threatened her, struck her, and sprayed pepper spray in her face. Additionally, the suspect applied psychological pressure on the victim and demanded money amounting to 15,000 hryvnias.
"On January 20, investigators under the procedural guidance of the Bila Tserkva District Prosecutor's Office informed a 16-year-old young man of suspicion regarding torture and extortion of funds during martial law (part 4 of article 189, part 1 of article 127 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)," the police noted.
On January 20, a video circulated on social media showing several teenagers brutally abusing a minor girl in the Kyiv region. The relevant video appeared in local public groups.
The footage captures several teenagers kicking and hitting the girl with their hands while commenting on the situation and using foul language. One of the attendees is filming everything on camera.
The police reported that the bodily harm inflicted on the minor was carried out by three juveniles — a peer of the victim, and two boys aged 15 and 16. They also found the corresponding video of the girl being beaten by these children.
It turned out that the girl is the daughter of a soldier who is currently at the front. This was shared on social media by her aunt, Natalia Yakovleva-Demedenko.
"In this video, my niece is being beaten by minor schoolchildren aged 15-16, demanding that she steal money from her parents. Her father, brother, and cousin are currently on the front line, defending us from the occupiers, and no one is there to defend the girl," the woman wrote.
The Juvenile Police reported the initiation of criminal proceedings regarding "extortion, importation, production, or distribution of works promoting violence and cruelty, racial, national, or religious intolerance and discrimination" and "torture."
We remind you that earlier the singer Wellboy was attacked, resulting in him sustaining minor bodily injuries. Law enforcement has already initiated criminal proceedings and is investigating all circumstances of the case.
