On the evening of Wednesday, October 24, a resident of Pervomaisk stole a car to get home, but lost control while driving and was involved in an accident.

This information was reported by the press service of the Nikolaev region police.

On Wednesday evening, a 44-year-old resident of the Pervomaisk community reported a theft of a VAZ-2109 to the police. The complainant stated that the vehicle was parked near his workplace with the keys in the ignition.

During the initial investigative and operational activities, officers from the Pervomaisk district police department located and apprehended the car thief within an hour. The perpetrator turned out to be a 20-year-old local resident, who had previously been held accountable for property crimes and had an unexpunged criminal record.

After driving the stolen vehicle for several kilometers, the man was involved in an accident, left the car at the scene, and continued on foot. Currently, investigators have informed the perpetrator of the suspicion against him. He faces up to five years of imprisonment for his actions.

The police took the offender to the district department, where investigators detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
