Ukrainian forces launched an attack on a refinery in the Volgograd region of Russia during the night of January 31. This refinery is among the top ten largest in Russia.
This information was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The operation was carried out by units of the UAV Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. The defenders struck the LLC "Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka" in the Volgograd region.
"This refinery, based on its design capacity, ranks among the top ten largest oil refineries in Russia and is involved in supplying the occupying Russian army," the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
After the attack, flashes and explosions were observed in the area of the refinery, which is crucial for the occupiers. The results of the fire damage are being clarified.
As reported by RBK-Ukraine, on the night of January 31, explosions were reported in the Volgograd region of Russia. Russians claimed that drones attacked the local refinery.
Footage of flashes in the vicinity of the oil refinery and sounds of explosions were shared online.
Later, the head of the CPD, Andrey Kovalenko reported on the damage to the refinery in the Volgograd region. He noted that this is one of the largest oil refineries in Russia, producing gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, and aviation fuel.
