The French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, has urged the European Commission to take stronger actions against American billionaire Elon Musk.
This was reported by RBK-Ukraine citing Reuters.
According to him, the European Commission should enforce its existing legislation much more rigorously.
"Either the European Commission applies the laws that exist to protect our unique space with the utmost firmness, or it does not, and in that case, it should consider restoring the ability to do so back to the member states of the European Union, including France," he stated.
Recall that some time ago, French President Emmanuel Macron hinted at Musk's interference in European politics. During his address to French ambassadors, Macron did not directly mention Musk's name, but said:
"Who could have imagined 10 years ago that the owner of one of the largest social networks in the world would support a new international reactionary movement and directly interfere in elections, particularly in Germany," Macron remarked at that time.
Concerns regarding Musk's political involvement have also been expressed by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
Additionally, the German government accused Elon Musk of attempting to interfere in the federal elections in the country. German government spokesperson Christian Hoffmann stated that while Musk has the right to free speech, his conclusions are questionable.
