The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv has chosen a preventive measure for the former commander of the 155th Brigade named after Anna of Kyiv, Dmytro Ryumshyn, which entails detention for 60 days with the possibility of posting bail set at 90 million UAH. He is accused of numerous cases of AWOL among his subordinates.

According to the lawyer of the accused, Bohdan Zabara, this information was provided to Suspilne.

The defense plans to file an appeal against this court decision. Ryumshyn himself stated that he timely informed law enforcement about the AWOL incidents as they occurred. The former commander clarified that he may have reported this with delays due to objective reasons.

On January 20, Ryumshyn was detained by the State Bureau of Investigation (DBR) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The investigation found that the former commander did not report a significant number of incidents of personnel abandoning their posts while on the territory of the EU, where the brigade was undergoing training and during combat missions on the eastern front.

Recall that the fighters of the 155th Brigade named after Anna of Kyiv were sent for training in France. After the training concluded, reports emerged of mass desertions and AWOL incidents among soldiers, including during the training period.

After this information became public, the DBR initiated an investigation into the mass AWOL incidents in the 155th Brigade. On January 5, during a meeting at the headquarters of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he was taking the situation surrounding the 155th OMBr "Anna of Kyiv" under personal control.
