People are coming from all over Ukraine: the mayor of Kyiv revealed the city's current population.

Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, stated that people are coming to the capital not only for safety reasons but also for the superior services available.
Мэр Киева сообщил о количестве жителей столицы, которые приезжают со всей Украины.

In the capital of Ukraine, the city of Kyiv, nearly four million people currently reside. This figure is double the population that lived in the city 20 years ago. This was reported by Kyiv's mayor, Vitali Klitschko, during the forum "Democratic Resilience of Ukraine During War and Recovery" on February 11.

"If 20 years ago the population of Kyiv was only a little over 2 million, now it’s nearly four," — the mayor noted.

He added that out of these nearly four million, more than 600,000 are internally displaced persons. According to Vitali Klitschko, people are moving to the capital from all over the country for safety reasons.

"People are coming to Kyiv from all over the country. Right now, because Kyiv is the most protected city and safety is the number one issue, there are currently over 600,000 internally displaced persons in our city," — emphasized the mayor of Kyiv.

Additionally, according to Vitali Klitschko, people are relocating to Kyiv for the better services available in the country. He highlighted education and healthcare.

It is worth noting that earlier, Vitali Klitschko predicted that the end of the war in Ukraine could happen within one to two months. He stated that hostilities are likely to cease after a compromise that society will perceive as painful and may lead to unrest.

We also remind you that at the end of January, the mayor of Kyiv accused the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Timur Tkachенко, of blocking key economic issues of the capital and attempting to take on the functions of the mayor. Tkachенко responded to the accusations, reproaching that Vitali Klitschko finds time to record videos with accusations while real problems in the capital are not being solved for years.
