A Ukrainian drone, equipped with two hunting shotguns by soldiers of the Ukrainian army, shot down several Russian DJI Mavic quadcopters during a combat mission. The corresponding video surfaced on social media.
The video shows how the Ukrainian Armed Forces' drone shot down three enemy army drones while in flight.
Additionally, the Defense Forces conducted a remote hunt for a Russian soldier spotted in the area. Alongside the gunfire, the drone also adjusted the strikes of mortars.
According to geospatial intelligence based on open sources, analyst Garbuz determined that the event took place in the Kupiansk direction of the Kharkiv region, near the settlements of Synkivka and Petropavlivka.
The exact timing of the video is still unknown.
The General Staff reported that throughout the day, in the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to advance towards our positions 13 times in the areas of Holubivka, Synkivka, Stepne Novoselivka, and Zahryzovo. Nine clashes occurred.
Ukrainian drones armed with shotguns have proven to be surprisingly effective in combating enemy drones, including those using fiber optics. The first successful test of such "Winchesters" was reported on December 28.
By mounting paired shotguns on drones, the Ukrainian Armed Forces can track Russian drones in the air long before they pose a threat to ground troops.
