The women's pursuit race in Oberhof, Germany, brought unfortunate news even before it began – Yulia Dzhyma, who was set to start in 14th position, did not take to the start line due to health issues.
As a result, only two Ukrainian biathletes participated in the race, showcasing vastly different performances.
Khrystyna Dmytrenko demonstrated excellent shooting throughout the race, only needing to take one penalty lap at the four shooting stages. This allowed her to gain 10 positions from her initial 40th place.
On the other hand, World Cup debutant Daryna Chalykh struggled with her shooting – accumulating 2 penalty laps on the first prone stage, 4 on the second, and one standing... This led to her being lapped by the leaders, preventing her from finishing.
The victory went to French athlete Lou Jeanmonnot, who, like Dmytrenko, only incurred one penalty lap.
