To ensure a sustainable peace, Ukraine requires a contingent of peacekeepers numbering 100,000 individuals. This was stated by President Vladimir Zelensky during his visit to the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant while addressing journalists.
For security guarantees, Ukraine needs a specific deterrent package that will include powerful weaponry. Alternatively, he noted, NATO would need to be established in Ukraine.
The head of state shared that, at his direction, the military has created a map that clearly outlines the actual needs for foreign troops to maintain peace.
"And the contingent is not 5-7 thousand, as has been mentioned before," — emphasized Vladimir Zelensky.
According to him, the real number of peacekeepers required from European countries and the U.S. is 100,000. He plans to communicate this to partners at the Munich Security Conference.
Earlier, in an interview with the Italian TV channel RaiNews24, Vladimir Zelensky expressed that Kyiv's dream for 2025 is to receive security guarantees and to end the war.
Recall that in January, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, President Zelensky stated that security guarantees after the war will require no less than 200,000 European peacekeepers. In the president's view, such a number of foreign military contingents would prevent a new invasion by Russian forces.
