A new dangerous challenge has emerged on the Chinese social network TikTok: children are being taught to create explosive devices in short video clips. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.

The consequences of these "experiments" are catastrophic. Children and teenagers are suffering from chemical burns and scars on their faces and hands. In some cases, they require prolonged treatment, the police explained.

Children are advised not to replicate the dangerous actions discussed on social media. Life and health are far more important than any number of views. If friends suggest participating in such challenges, it is crucial to decline immediately and inform an adult.

Parents need to monitor what videos and challenges their children are watching online.

"Explain to children that 'likes' on social media are not worth their health and lives. Communicate openly with your children and discuss the consequences of dangerous actions," the police emphasize.

Children are making explosives from TikTok videos: what incidents have already occurred

It is known that in the Lviv region, three children aged 10, 11, and 15 ended up in the hospital with severe chemical burns to their faces. They attempted to create a homemade firecracker following instructions from TikTok. The children used a plastic bottle, water, a foil ball, and a drain cleaner to craft the explosive.

A boy recounted that he and a friend saw other teenagers making such a firecracker outside and decided to replicate it: they mixed the ingredients and shook the bottle to induce a chemical reaction. Right in front of one of the victims, the bottle exploded, and chemicals splashed onto his face.

"The drain cleaner literally eats away at children's skin. The eyes are particularly affected, as they contain the most delicate tissues," said Halyna Sayan, head of the Thermal Injury and Burn Surgery Center at the Lviv Medical Association.

In the center of Dnipro, on the evening of January 19, teenagers wanted to replicate a dangerous trend from TikTok near the Central Department Store. They took a homemade firecracker, threw it into a mobile shelter, and ran away. Almost immediately after the throw, an explosion occurred.

It is worth noting that the TikTok platform resumed operations in the USA following statements from the new president, Donald Trump, regarding restoring access to the platform.
