The next city that Russian occupation forces may target in Ukraine is Zaporizhzhia. This was reported by The Economist.
"A senior Ukrainian official stated that Russia's next objective could be an offensive against the city of Zaporizhzhia, a major industrial hub in southern Ukraine, located near the Russian-occupied nuclear power plant," the article notes.
According to the publication's source, Russia may have already reclaimed nearly half of the territory that Ukraine seized in the Kursk region in August 2024.
Journalists also emphasized that the situation on the battlefield "looks grim," as Russia makes significant advances, attacking simultaneously at multiple points along the 1,000-kilometer front line, despite staggering losses—600,000 dead and wounded.
"Russia is in the process of encircling Pokrovsk, an important logistics hub in eastern Ukraine, and is advancing further south, having gained control over the heights around Vuhledar," the article states.
Furthermore, the authors of the piece noted that Western support has recently become increasingly precarious. In particular, none of the candidates in the U.S. elections are making any promises to Ukraine, and Germany and France have already indicated that they will reduce assistance.
Recall that on October 22, DeepState reported that Russian occupation forces captured the village of Novosadove in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region.
