Elina Svitolina's husband earned $100,000 in prize money for winning the tournament in Auckland.

The tournament leading up to the Australian Open has concluded in Auckland, Australia, with Frenchman Gaël Monfils taking the victory in the men's singles.

The tennis player defeated his opponent from Belgium.

The husband of Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina (who currently holds the 52nd position in the world rankings) confidently navigated the tournament draw, losing only one set in the first round.

Monfils secured a break in the very first game on his opponent's serve and carried the first set to victory. The second set proved to be slightly more challenging, as in the 10th game, his opponent Zizu Bergs had three break points but failed to convert them and ultimately lost the game.

The championship title earned Monfils over $100,000 in prize money, while his opponent received around $60,000.

Overall, throughout his career, the 38-year-old Monfils has won over $23 million in prize money.
