During the week, ambulances delivered boys aged 10, 11, and 15 to the Saint Nicholas the First Children's Hospital of Lviv Medical Association, after homemade explosives detonated in front of them. The city council reports this incident.
It is noted that the children were not acquainted with each other, but all of them independently created a "firecracker" by following a step-by-step guide found on TikTok. They used a plastic bottle, water, a foil ball, and a pipe cleaning agent to craft the explosive.
Eleven-year-old Vyacheslav shared that he and a friend saw other teenagers making such a "firecracker" outside and decided to replicate it. To trigger a chemical reaction, they shook the bottle after mixing all the components. The bottle exploded, splattering its contents onto the boy's face.
At the city center for thermal injuries and burn surgery of the First Medical Association of Lviv, they note that patients arrive with severe chemical burns to the face, as the pipe cleaning agent literally corrodes the children’s skin. The eyes are particularly affected, as the tissues there are the thinnest.
"We have already provided assistance to three children this week. Unfortunately, all of them will have scars on their faces," said burn and plastic surgeon Galina Sayan.
It is worth mentioning that in the Odessa region, two girls aged 3 and 5 and their 7-year-old brother were poisoned by an unknown substance. The tragedy occurred while their 30-year-old mother was engaged in household chores.
In the Ternopil region, eight children were admitted to intensive care due to the consumption of wild mushrooms. Subsequently, three children and their mother's partner died in the hospital.
