Kiev's public transport will operate on schedule without interruptions, contrary to previous media reports. A nationwide minute of silence will be observed on the capital's transport, but this will occur through announcements made between 08:50 and 09:00 every day during the national minute of silence. This was announced on the evening of February 11 by the Kyiv City Military Administration.
"The information that public transport will stop for 10 minutes during the nationwide minute of silence (allegedly from 08:50 to 09:00) is not true," the KVA stated.
It is noted that residents of Kyiv will still honor the memory of those who perished in the war while using city trolleybuses, trams, and buses during their morning commutes. This will take place through announcements made via loudspeaker systems in the cabins of Kyiv's public transport.
Such notifications will be heard by the residents of the capital in the vehicles equipped with the aforementioned systems.
When the announcements regarding the nationwide minute of silence are made, public transport will continue to operate as scheduled without halting its movement.
Currently, "Kyivpastrans" is working on implementing such an innovation, as reported by the KVA.
Let us remind you that the nationwide minute of silence is declared every morning. During this time, citizens across the country are called to honor their compatriots who have fallen victim to the Russian-Ukrainian war.
It is worth noting that on the evening of February 11, information emerged that Kyiv's public transport would stop for 10 minutes during the announcement of the nationwide minute of silence from 08:50 to 09:00.
