Байден предупредил американцев о возможности повторения беспорядков, схожих с теми, что произошли 6 января 2021 года.

U.S. President Joe Biden urged Americans to remember the events at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. He emphasized the importance of preventing such threats from reoccurring in the future.

This was reported by RBK-Ukraine, referencing an article from The Washington Post.

Biden stated that on January 6, a meeting will be held where staff and members of Congress will gather to affirm the results of the free and fair presidential election and ensure a peaceful transfer of power.

"The Capitol Police will stand guard over the citadel of our democracy," Biden declared.

According to him, this ceremony has made America a "beacon" for the free world for over two centuries, affirming the will of the voters.

"For most of our history, this procedure has been seen as a formality, a routine act. But after what we all witnessed on January 6, 2021, we know we can never take this for granted again," Biden wrote.

The White House leader is convinced that Americans should take pride in the fact that U.S. democracy withstood this attack. However, this should never be forgotten.

Biden stated that the presidential election was conducted peacefully, and he officially invited Donald Trump to the White House on the morning of January 20 to peacefully transfer power in respect of traditions.

"But we cannot forget that day. It is what we owe to the founders of our nation, to those who fought for it and died for it," he emphasized.

The Capitol Riot

Recall that in January 2021, Trump supporters attempted to storm the Capitol building, where the Senate is located. They demanded the overturning of the results of the 2020 presidential election, in which Joe Biden won.

During the chaos, five people died, including a police officer.

In May 2023, a court sentenced Stuart Rhodes, the founder and leader of the far-right organization Oath Keepers, to 18 years in prison in this case.
