De-mining operators completed the clearance of 5 areas in January under the state program for compensating the de-mining of agricultural land. The state returned 640 hectares to farmers for use, with the compensation cost for de-mining amounting to 20.6 million UAH.
This was reported by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine.
According to the agency, since the beginning of the program and as of February 1, 2025, the Humanitarian De-Mining Center has signed 50 agreements with operators for work covering a total area of over 9300 hectares, with an estimated cost of approximately 536.5 million UAH.
Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko stated that de-mining is still ongoing under other signed contracts. In 2025, the Ministry will continue the program and will seek donor funding to clear even more agricultural land.
In particular, she emphasized that the government is working to strengthen capabilities in the field of de-mining activities. Since the beginning of the year, the number of certified operators has increased to 82. Currently, efforts are underway to automate the certification processes, which will potentially lead to an increase in the number of operators in the market.
Cooperation with international partners continues to ensure operators have the necessary machinery and equipment for de-mining. As of today, Ukraine has over 200 mechanical de-mining machines and localized production of foreign equipment samples.
The Ministry of Economy notes that in 2025, a technical survey of areas covering 31,000 square kilometers for explosive objects is planned, along with the creation of a Registry of Contaminated Territories.
