Units of the Russian Armed Forces are advancing from Chasiv Yar to Konstantinovka. The route that the enemy might use is blocked, and Ukrainian military forces are moving along it. Additionally, there is hope that clay extraction quarries will slow down the Russians. The distance from the front line to the nearest city is approximately 7-8 km. Nikolai Dovbnya, a deputy of the Druzhkivka City Council, reported on the battles in the Kramatorsk direction and near Chasiv Yar, Konstantinovka, and Druzhkovka during a broadcast on the "Espresso" TV channel.
Dovbnya explained that as of October 22, authorities are urging people to evacuate due to issues with water, heating, gas, and electricity supply. The official noted that his mother has not evacuated and still lives near Konstantinovka. He visited her and heard the continuous rumble of Russian artillery.
"The enemy is already 7 km from Konstantinovka. It is simply horrifying what is happening near Konstantinovka, it cannot be conveyed — it’s like what is shown in Soviet films about World War II, this continuous, relentless attack, with a constant rumble and noise of artillery explosions," the deputy said.
The official could not confirm whether concrete pyramids have been installed on the road used by the Russian Armed Forces moving south from Chasiv Yar to Konstantinovka: he saw "dragon's teeth" in the summer but does not know if they have been placed on the road. According to him, movement on the route is prohibited, but Ukrainian military forces and some civilians are traveling along it. Dovbnya believes that the defense of the cities in the Kramatorsk direction may benefit from the clay extraction quarries that will be in the path of the Russians.
"All 7 km should be simply littered with dragon's teeth. As for the landscape, there are very large quarries that I think will stop the enemy between Konstantinovka and Chasiv Yar. I believe they will be delayed a bit," Dovbnya clarified.
In a report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, published at 08:00 on October 22, it is stated that the Russian Armed Forces attacked Chasiv Yar using aviation. The command reported that the Defense Forces are controlling the situation. No data was provided on the number of attacks. The day before, there were mentions of two Russian assaults in the area of the village of Stupochki, located on the road to Konstantinovka (6 km away). Analysts from the DeepState project in their daily reports on Telegram did not mention any enemy advances. On the online map of military actions from the project, the last updates near Chasiv Yar and Konstantinovka were marked on October 18-19. According to the analysts' conclusions, Russian units advanced a distance of between a hundred meters to 1 km south of Chasiv Yar: along the route to Konstantinovka and in the area of Klescheevka-Andreevka.
We remind you that on October 18, The Wall Street Journal spoke with Ukrainian soldiers fighting in Donbas: they compared Chasiv Yar to "Achilles' heel."
